On September 25th, 2020, Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 1864 which expanded the jurisdiction of the Department of Business Oversight (DBO). After signing Assembly Bill 107 on September 29, 2020, the DBO was renamed the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation (DFPI) effective immediately.
